Nathan Burkett
Landscape Architect & Director

An award-winning and qualified landscape architect, Nathan is known for his clean, crisp lines and artistic versatility, able to shift from classic, subtle styles right through to the more eclectic and cutting-edge.

Nathan acquired a degree in Landscape Architecture at RMIT in 2002, winning the RMIT Award for Design Excellence in his final year.

He founded Nathan Burkett Landscape Architecture in 2003 and, with his team, won Abode Magazine’s Garden of the Year Award the following year.

Today, Nathan is one of Australia’s most respected Landscape Architects, achieving Gold at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show with his installation ‘Equilibrium’.

Jasmine Boer
Personal Assistant to Nathan

Jasmine is an invaluable support to Nathan and the team, taking care of appointments, managing schedules and freeing up time and energy, so they can fully immerse themselves creatively in every project.

Jasmine plays a key role in keeping operations running and applying systems to increase efficiency across all sectors of NBLA.

Ellie Grammelsberger
Landscape Architect

An integral part of the team since 2016, Ellie holds a Master of Landscape Architecture from RMIT University. She loves to design and deliver gardens and outdoor spaces that reflect the values, tastes and interests of clients.

Combined with her strong creative mind, she plays a pivotal role in the daily operations of the NBLA studio, communicating regularly with clients to make sure their garden dreams come to fruition.

Matthew West
Landscape Architect

With a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture, Matthew works with NBLA as a landscape architect and advanced 3D visualiser.

He works closely with Nathan and the team assisting in the preparation of designs and helping to coordinate council submissions.

In his spare time, he can be found mountain biking the Victorian High-Country trails or tinkering with rally cars in his garage.

Ciarán Wilcox
Project Coordinator

Ciarán brings over a decade’s experience in Commercial Architecture and Development. Having studied both Building Design and Project Management, Ciarán loves merging natural aesthetics with practicality when it comes to design.

Ciarán works directly with our site team to mitigate time and cost concerns to meet client’s budgets. A backbone to the construction arm of NBLA, he provides detailed and innovative input to ensure the build process runs smoothly.

Ciarán volunteers as a writer for numerous artists and publications within the Melbourne live music scene.

Alana Halls
Landscape Design Assistant

Alana brings to the team a keen interest in Horticulture and a sound knowledge of plants and design, these skills enable her to assist the team with planting layouts, drafting designs and preparation of presentations. She loves incorporating natural elements within a garden and experimenting with new and innovative materials.

Zane Holland
Construction Manager

A loyal employee for 10 years, Zane is responsible for managing and overseeing the construction phase for each project at NBLA.

Fully qualified in carpentry and landscape construction – and having managed hundreds of projects of different sizes and complexities – he brings a wealth of construction experience to each job and prides himself on delivering high quality workmanship and attention to detail.

Paul Smith
General Manager – Botanic Horticulture

NBLA have a strong affiliation with garden maintenance providers, Botanic Horticulture. We work closely with General Manager, Paul Smith, to make sure our designs continue to mature and flourish through careful maintenance and aftercare.

Paul brings extensive horticulture experience and is dedicated to the projects of NBLA. We consider him an essential element in the way our garden designs mature and are cared for. His team of gardeners and professional arborists tend to the health and evolvement of your garden, ensuring it looks sensational all year round.
