FEATURED PROJECT | Arthur’s Seat
Nestled in the heart of the Mornington Peninsula, lies a country abode providing the perfect retreat from city life. Designed as a modern Australian country escape, this ranch-style home is surrounded by a breathtaking garden designed by Nathan Burkett Landscape Architecture to integrate harmoniously with the natural beauty of the Australian bush.
The expansive property sits on a quiet rural road, perched on a hill with a spring-fed dam and soaring eucalypts, providing a breathtaking backdrop for the client’s country retreat.
Alfresco Entertaining and a Poolside Oasis
Landscape designer Nathan Burkett has crafted an outdoor haven that evokes a sense of serenity. The thoughtfully curated landscape offers multiple areas for relaxation and entertainment, including an undercover outdoor lounge designed for all-season entertaining. This outdoor space features a big TV, sofa, dining table, and fireplace, making it an ideal second living space.
“It gives me the feels with its serene perspective,” says client, Bec Judd.
The alfresco area flows seamlessly into a garden that celebrates natural curves, with an aggregate path winding through garden beds to the three-metre round pool. Accentuating the winding curves is a white brick sitting wall featuring a circular raised garden bead with an established olive tree at its centre.
“Nathan incorporated the natural curves of the land, the rolling hills that lead down to the lakes, into his design,” Bec explains.
A standout feature of the garden is the small circular pool spa with Therolux minerals, packed with magnesium for ultimate relaxation. Positioned to take advantage of the sweeping views, this tranquil pool offers the perfect spot for a refreshing dip.
“Nathan Burkett has done an amazing job with the design, there are so many beautiful, curved elements,” says Judd.
With rolling hills, two beautiful lakes, and sweeping bushland views, this stunning retreat epitomizes the essence of luxury country living. The garden design embodies sophistication, relaxation, and seamless integration with the Australian environment.
Throughout summer, the family has been making the most of their Mornington Peninsula getaway, embracing the peaceful surroundings and beautifully designed outdoor spaces.
